SERVICE / SENSOR EXCHANGE

Recalibration without downtime

We send a freshly calibrated sensor. You click it in and send the old one back. Measurement continues, and there is no gap in the curve.

How do you recalibrate without interrupting measurement?

By exchanging the sensor instead of taking it down and sending it away. This is possible because the calibration data is held in the sensor itself and not in the data logger. When the new sensor is clicked in, the logger reads its correction coefficients, measurement uncertainty and certificate number directly.

This means nothing has to be configured and nothing can be keyed in wrongly. The exchange takes a few seconds, and the only pause in the curve is the time it takes to swap the connector.

Some sensor types, typically permanently mounted Pt100 probes, are recalibrated on site instead of by exchange. We state this per measuring point.

The old method costs a month without data

With the traditional method, the sensor is calibrated on site. That means downtime for as long as the calibration lasts, typically a couple of hours per sensor.

In the meantime, that point is not measuring. To avoid a gap in the documentation, you have to put up a temporary sensor, and then that one also has to be documented and explained afterwards.

Sensor exchange removes the whole problem. The new sensor arrives calibrated with a certificate, and the old one is sent back afterwards instead of before.

Why it works

Data is held in the sensor

Correction coefficients, measurement uncertainty, expected drift, serial number and certificate number are stored in the sensor itself.

The logger reads it itself

The data logger fetches the values when the sensor is clicked in. No configuration, no data entry, no source of error.

The curve is unbroken

The only pause is the swap itself. The documentation has no gap that needs explaining at an inspection.

How an exchange works

You do not have to keep track of the intervals. The system tells you, and we take it from there.

The system notifies you

OCEAView shows which sensors are due for calibration, based on the intervals you have defined yourselves.

2

We coordinate

We agree which sensors are exchanged when, so it does not hit a critical point in your operations.

3

We exchange

The freshly calibrated sensor arrives with a certificate. Old one out, new one in. The logger reads the rest itself.

4

Return and documentation

The old sensor is sent back, the certificate is in the system, and the next interval is set.

Frequently asked questions

Does a technician need to come out and do it?

No, in most cases you can click the sensor in yourselves. We are happy to come out if you prefer, or if the measuring point is hard to reach.

How long is the pause in measurement?

The time it takes to swap the connector, so a few seconds. It does not create a gap in the documentation.

What about Pt100 probes that are fixed in place?

They are typically recalibrated on site instead of by exchange. We state this per measuring point when we go through the installation.

Do we have to configure anything afterwards?

No. The calibration data is held in the sensor, and the data logger reads it when the sensor is clicked in.

What does it cost?

It depends on the number of sensors and the interval. We include it in the service agreement, so you know the amount in advance.

Who keeps track of when it needs to happen?

The system and we do. You do not have to keep records in a spreadsheet.
