The alarm has to get out of the room
A buzzer or a flashing light on a unit only helps whoever is standing next to it. Alerting is about the right person being notified in the right place, and someone acknowledging it.

How do alarms work in a monitoring system?
Each measuring point has up to three alarm levels above and three below, and each level has its own delay. The value has to stay outside the limit for the number of minutes you decide before the alarm is triggered. That is what stops a normal door opening from causing an alarm, while a real loss does.
When the alarm goes off, the person on call is contacted by phone call, SMS and email at the same time. If they do not answer, the system moves on to the next person on the list, and keeps going until someone acknowledges. The acknowledgement is stored with name and timestamp in an audit trail that cannot be altered.
On-call rotas, limits and delays are set up together with you, based on your own SOPs.
An email at two in the morning is not an alarm
Most systems can send an email. The problem is that nobody reads email at two in the morning, and an email does not demand a response.
The other classic mistake is limits that are too sensitive. If the alarm goes off every time someone takes something out of the refrigerator, people stop reacting after two weeks. At that point the system is effectively out of service, even though it is running.
Alerting therefore has to do two things: tell normal use apart from a real loss, and keep making itself heard until a person takes responsibility.

How the alarm gets through
Phone call, SMS and email
All three at once, not instead of each other. The phone call is what wakes someone up.
Delay per level
Three levels up and three down, each with its own delay. Normal use does not trigger an alarm.
Escalation and acknowledgement
If the first person does not answer, the system calls the next. The acknowledgement is stored with name and timestamp.
Siren on site
LoRa Alert Siren gives sound and light where someone is actually standing.
Relay for your own siren or lamp
LoRa Alert Relay is a wireless dry contact relay that lets OCEAView trigger third-party sirens or lamps.
Technical alarms
Notification of lost communication, sensor faults and gateway faults, so a silent sensor is not overlooked.
OCEAView from DICKSON, set up and maintained by us
The hardware is DICKSON's. The software is DICKSON's. Everything between the equipment and your day-to-day work is ours. And once the system is in place, it is yours. You buy it, you own it, and no leasing agreement decides when you can switch, expand or stop. We take care of maintenance so it keeps running.
OCEAView
The whole setup on one screen. Watch mode gives a combined status overview of the equipment you have access to, with up to 100 units per page, and every graph can be zoomed down to the individual minute. Plan View also places the points on your own floor plan, so the person on call can see which room it concerns.

An audit trail that cannot be altered
Every reading, alarm and acknowledgement with timestamp and user. That is what an auditor asks for.
Report in one click
Choose a period and export the report as PDF or CSV. Ready before anyone asks.
Cloud or your own servers
On-premises runs at your site with LDAP, and you control updates yourselves, so the qualification holds.
DICKSON
The manufacturer
Builds data loggers, sensors and OCEAView. French and American production, its own accredited calibration laboratories and CE, FCC and IC approved equipment.
Djurhuus IT
Distributor since 2018
We advise on placement, design the setup, install, set up alarms and on-call rotas, train your staff on the system and manage calibration afterwards.
You
Owner of the system
The system is yours. You set the limits, response times and requirements according to your own SOPs. We supply the system and the documentation, handle the validation, on our own or in close cooperation with you, and maintain it afterwards.
Frequently asked questions
Can the alarm go to different people depending on the time?
The on-call rota sets the order, and several recipients can be set up per measuring point or group, so a department and a central on-call service can each be notified separately.
What if nobody answers?
The system continues down the on-call rota and keeps going until someone acknowledges. That is why the list needs more than one name.
Can we have sound and light on site?
Yes. LoRa Alert Siren is wireless and triggered by OCEAView, so it can be placed where someone is standing, and not necessarily by the equipment.
Can the system talk to our existing alarm system?
No. LoRa Alert Relay is a wireless dry contact relay with two terminals that can trigger a siren or lamp of your choice. It is not connected to an alarm system, and alerting to people goes through OCEAlert.
How do we avoid false alarms?
With a delay on each level and with a warning level before the alarm level. A dry contact cable on the door also shows whether an open door was the cause.
Will we be notified if the system itself fails?
Yes. There are technical alarms for lost communication, sensor faults and gateway problems. A system that does not tell you when it fails itself is not an alarm system.
