Monitoring of CO2 incubators
Temperature, humidity and CO2 are measured with one sensor inside the chamber. Three parameters in the same graph, so a deviation can be seen in context rather than in isolation.

How do you monitor a CO2 incubator?
With a triple sensor placed inside the chamber that measures temperature, relative humidity and CO2 concentration at the same time. The sensor is small enough for compact incubators and connects to the data logger outside with a flat cable through the access port, so the door still closes tightly.
The sensor is powered by the data logger and needs no external power inside the chamber. All three parameters are logged in the same graph, so you can see whether a drop in CO2 coincides with repeated door openings.
Limits and delays are set according to your own SOPs and what is being cultured.
The incubator measures itself
The display on an incubator shows what the unit itself believes. It is the unit's own sensor reporting on the unit's own condition, and the data is rarely stored in a way you can present.
It only becomes a problem when the unit's sensor drifts. The display then still shows the right number, while the conditions inside the chamber are different. And a CO2 level that slips slowly because of a leaking door or a low cylinder does not look like anything on a display. It only shows up in a graph over the day.
An independent sensor with traceable calibration measures what the cultures actually experience, and stores it.

What we monitor in the incubator
Temperature, humidity and CO2
One sensor for all three parameters, in the same graph. No extra power inside the chamber.
The door
A dry contact shows whether repeated door openings are causing a drop in CO2 or humidity.
CO2 supply
The cylinder pressure or the supply system's alarm output via dry contact or 4-20 mA.
Room conditions
Temperature and humidity in the laboratory itself, which affect the chamber every time it is opened.
Escalation
Call, text message and email to the person on call, then on to the next, until someone acknowledges.
Calibration
Traceable certificate on the sensor, and recalibration by exchange without interrupting the culture.
OCEAView from DICKSON, set up and looked after by us
The hardware is DICKSON's. The software is DICKSON's. Everything between the equipment and your day-to-day work is ours. And once the system is in place, it is yours. You buy it, you own it, and no lease agreement decides when you can switch, expand or stop. We handle the maintenance so it keeps running.
OCEAView
The whole setup on one screen. Watch mode gives a combined status overview of the equipment you have access to, with up to 100 units per page, and every graph can be zoomed down to the individual minute. Plan View also places the points on your own floor plan, so the person on call can see which room it concerns.

An audit trail that cannot be altered
Every measurement, alarm and acknowledgement with timestamp and user. That is what an auditor asks for.
Reports in one click
Choose a period and export the report as PDF or CSV. Ready before anyone asks.
Cloud or your own servers
On-premises runs on your site with LDAP, and you control updates yourselves, so the qualification holds.
DICKSON
The manufacturer
Builds data loggers, sensors and OCEAView. French and American production, its own accredited calibration laboratories and CE, FCC and IC approved equipment.
Djurhuus IT
Distributor since 2018
We advise on placement, design the setup, install, set up alarms and on-call rotas, train your staff in the system and manage calibration afterwards.
You
Owner of the system
The system is yours. You set limits, response times and requirements according to your own SOPs. We supply the system and the documentation, handle validation, on our own or in close collaboration with you, and maintain it afterwards.
Frequently asked questions
Is the sensor small enough for our incubator?
Yes. The triple sensor is designed for compact incubators, and the flat cable is run through the access port, so the door still closes tightly.
Does the sensor need power inside the chamber?
No. It is powered from the data logger outside the incubator, so there are no extra wires or adapters in the chamber.
Why not just use the incubator's own alarm system?
Because it measures with the unit's own sensor and rarely stores data in a way you can document from. An independent measurement with traceable calibration is something other than the unit's own display.
How do we avoid an alarm at every door opening?
Each limit has its own delay. The value must stay outside the limit for the number of minutes you decide before the alarm goes off, and a dry contact cable shows at the same time whether the door was open.
Can we see temperature, humidity and CO2 together?
Yes. The three parameters are shown in the same graph, so a drop in CO2 can be seen in the context of humidity and temperature instead of in isolation.
How often does the sensor need calibrating?
You define the interval yourselves based on your SOPs, typically every 12 months. The system notifies you when a sensor's calibration is about to expire, and you choose the notice period yourselves. The certificate is retrieved directly from the sensor.
