Pt100 Smart-Sensor, -200 to +50
For ULT, cryo and liquid nitrogen
Platinum sensor for the data loggers, specified all the way down to -200 degrees. Used where ordinary digital sensors are no longer reliable.

What is the Pt100 Smart-Sensor, -200 to +50, and how does it work?
Pt100 is a platinum sensor. The electrical resistance of platinum changes predictably with temperature, and at 0 degrees the resistance is exactly 100 ohms. The relationship is known and stable all the way down to -200, and that is what makes it useful in the cold.
Ordinary digital temperature sensors are typically specified to around -40 degrees and drift below that, meaning they gradually read wrong without it showing in the number. In a -80 freezer this can mean the system reports that all is well while the actual temperature is -72.
The calibration coefficients are stored in the sensor itself. The data logger reads them directly, so a sensor can be swapped without configuring anything.

The product in use
The sensor is fed into the freezer or tank through the access port, and the data logger stays outside on the wall.
For recalibration we send a new sensor with a certificate. You click it in, and measurement continues with no gap in the curve.

How to get it
We do not sell individual parts over the counter. We put the setup together based on what we see at your site and take care of the rest.

Walkthrough
We visit, look at your equipment and premises and advise on number and placement.
Installation
We install, set up limits and on-call rotas and train your staff on the system.
Operation and calibration
We look after it afterwards. Calibration on time and sensor exchange without downtime.
Validation
We validate the system, on our own or together with your QA, and deliver the documentation.
Frequently asked questions
Why not an ordinary sensor for -80?
Because it is not specified for that range and drifts over time. Pt100 has a known uncertainty across the whole range.
How does the sensor get into the freezer?
Through the freezer's access port if it has one, otherwise through the door gasket without breaking the seal.
Do we need to configure anything when replacing it?
No. The calibration data is stored in the sensor, and the logger reads it automatically.
