What is Smart DS, and how does it work?
Smart DS is a digital temperature sensor with the measuring element in a metal tip. What makes it well suited to cabinets is the cable. It is flat, so it can be routed through the door seal without holding the door ajar or damaging the seal over time.
The sensor connects to Cobalt X or Cobalt XS, which stores the measurements and sends them on. Calibration data is held in the sensor itself, so it can be exchanged without configuring the logger.

The product in use
The sensor is placed inside the cabinet, typically in the middle and away from the cooling surface, so it measures what the medicine experiences and not the air at the evaporator.
The cable is routed out through the door seal, and the data logger is mounted on the wall next to the cabinet.

Frequently asked questions
Does the cable damage the door seal?
No. The flat cable is designed for the purpose and does not deform the seal.
Where in the cabinet should the sensor go?
Typically in the middle and away from the cooling surface. We advise on placement during the walkthrough.
What if we cannot have a cable at all?
Then an Emerald sensor is used, mounted inside the cabinet with no cable.
