Connect Gateway
One unit for the whole building
The gateway collects the readings from every data logger in the building and forwards them to OCEAView. Up to 50 data loggers and 100 to 200 sensors per unit.
What is Connect Gateway, and how does it work?
The gateway is the bridge between the LoRaWAN network and the internet. The data loggers send their readings to the gateway over LoRaWAN, and the gateway forwards them to OCEAView via Ethernet or 4G.
The range is up to 15 km in open air. Inside a building it is closer to 1 to 2 km, and considerably less in basements and behind metal. That is why we survey on site and position the gateway accordingly, or add an extra one.

How many gateways do we need?
Typically a few per building. We survey on site, because basements, metal racking and thick walls dampen the signal.
What happens if the gateway loses its connection?
The data loggers keep measuring and store data locally for up to 28 days. When the gateway is back, the readings are synchronised so there is no gap in the curve. No alarms are raised in the meantime, because the loggers cannot send data to the platform.
What connection does it require?
It runs on Ethernet or 4G with automatic failover. If the connection drops out completely, the data loggers keep measuring and store data locally for up to 28 days.
