Monitoring for hospitals
Wireless monitoring of temperature, humidity, CO2 and pressure in blood banks, hospital pharmacies, biobanks and laboratories. Installed, calibrated and serviced by us.
How does a hospital monitor its refrigerators and freezers?
A wireless sensor in every refrigerator, every freezer and every room measures around the clock. The readings are sent via LoRaWAN to a gateway and on to OCEAView, where they are stored in a log that cannot be altered. If anything goes outside the limits, the system calls the person on call and keeps going until someone acknowledges.
Departments we monitor
The blood bank is most often the starting point. The rest typically follows.

No cables through walls, no network setup on each unit. Two wireless technologies each solve their own task.
LoRaWAN
Data logger to gateway
Ultra-long range and low power consumption. A few gateways cover the whole building and handle up to 50 data loggers. Range up to 15 km in open air, 1-2 km in a hospital, less in basements.
Bluetooth
Sensor to data logger
Used for the sensing itself. Emerald sensors connect wirelessly to the data logger, so the sensors can be placed flexibly wherever measurement is needed, avoiding unnecessarily complex installations.
Wi-Fi
Smaller installations and fast logging
Cobalt XS Wi-Fi for smaller installations, or when a logging interval faster than 1 minute is needed.
One dashboard for the whole hospital
OCEAView shows every refrigerator, every freezer, every incubator and every cleanroom on one screen. Cloud or on your own servers. You decide.

Equipment, sensors and placement
Every unit linked to a department and room, so the alarm points to a place and not to a serial number.

The certificate is in the system
The calibration certificate can be retrieved directly for the individual sensor. The system notifies you when a sensor's calibration has expired based on the chosen calibration period, typically one year.
The documentation your QA asks for
Hospitals and pharma work under GMP and GDP. We supply the system, the documentation and the validation, on our own or in close cooperation with your QA.
Audit trail
Every reading, every alarm, every acknowledgement with timestamp and user. Cannot be altered.
Traceable certificates
Every sensor is supplied calibrated with a certificate. The calibration data is stored in the sensor itself.
Report in one click
Choose a period, export the report as PDF or CSV. Ready before anyone asks for it.
Requirements we support
GMP, GDP, EU GMP Annex 11, FDA 21 CFR Part 11 and ALCOA data integrity.
Accredited calibration
Calibration is carried out by accredited laboratories, DFM and DICKSON. Accreditation is granted by DANAK in Denmark and COFRAC in France, both national accreditation bodies under the European mutual recognition agreement. Every sensor is supplied with a traceable certificate, and the calibration data is stored in the sensor itself.
That is what makes the certificate valid to an auditor. A calibration certificate without accreditation is a measurement result. With accreditation, it is documentation that the laboratory itself has been checked, and that the measurement can be traced back to a national standard.
See how calibration worksDFM
Denmark's national metrology institute. Accredited by DANAK to ISO/IEC 17025.
DICKSON
The manufacturer's own laboratory in France, accredited by COFRAC to ISO/IEC 17025.
Sensor exchange
Recalibration without downtime: a spare sensor is put in while the existing one is sent for calibration.
Mutual recognition
DANAK and COFRAC are both part of the EA MLA, so a French certificate is valid on an equal footing with a Danish one for a Danish auditor.
Frequently asked questions
Are FMS and EMS the same?
Yes. Facility Monitoring System and Environmental Monitoring System cover the same thing: a system that measures, logs and raises alarms on temperature, humidity, CO2 and pressure. The only difference is which term the industry uses.
Do you carry out the accredited calibration yourselves?
No. The accredited calibration is carried out by our partners, while we handle planning, sensor exchange, certificates and keeping track of the intervals.
Who is responsible for the validation?
We typically handle the validation in cooperation with the customer. The customer can also choose to carry it out themselves. We see that mainly in pharma, while hospitals typically have us manage the process.
How many sensors can one gateway handle?
Approximately 50 data loggers and 100 to 200 sensors, depending on the setup. The range is up to 15 km in open air, 1 to 2 km in a hospital and considerably less in basements.
How often do the sensors need calibrating?
You define the interval yourselves based on your SOPs and on what the equipment is used for. Typically it is every 12 months.
What is the difference between an FMS and a CTS/BMS?
A CTS/BMS is used to control the building's technical installations, while an FMS is used to independently monitor, document and raise alarms on, for example, temperature and humidity. The FMS does not regulate the plant, but documents the conditions and makes it easier to validate the measurements.
We do not make the equipment. We make it fit you.
Djurhuus IT has worked with critical IT and server solutions since 2000, including for the largest pharmaceutical company in Denmark. Since 2018 we have specialised in monitoring for hospitals, laboratories and pharmaceutical production in Denmark. We are the Danish distributor of DICKSON, which develops data loggers, sensors and software.
What we do is everything that makes the system work in practice. We come out and look at your premises, assess where the sensors should be placed and how many are needed. We install the system, set up alarm limits and on-call rotas together with you and train your staff to use it.
Afterwards we take care of ongoing operation. This includes calibration via accredited partners, sensor exchange without downtime and support from people who know your installation.

You
Owner of the monitoring system. You set the limits, SOPs and validation requirements. We supply, set up, validate and document the system in cooperation with you.
Compliance for pharma and hospitals, explained in plain English
The rules rarely say "buy a monitoring system". They say that conditions must be under control and documented. Here is what that means in practice.
GMP
Good Manufacturing Practice
Requires that the conditions affecting product quality are under control. In practice: round-the-clock measurement, an alarm on deviation and a log that can be presented.
Applies to production and QCGDP
Good Distribution Practice
Requires that medicines are stored and transported within their temperature window. Mapping documents that the whole room holds, not just the middle.
Applies to storage and transportEU GMP Annex 11
Computerised systems
Requires that the system is validated, that data cannot be changed without a trace, and that access is controlled. We carry out the validation, on our own or together with your QA.
Applies to the software itself21 CFR Part 11
Electronic records
US requirement for electronic signatures and audit trail. Relevant if you export to the USA or work for a US parent company.
Applies to exports to the USAWhere is the line between us and you?
We handle the whole process from design and installation to validation and operation. This includes setup, documentation, IQ/OQ/PQ, calibration management and ongoing service. You define your own SOPs, requirements and limit values, and we handle the rest in close cooperation with you.
Validation: who does what →Certifications and standards
The equipment is manufactured and calibrated to recognised standards. The certificates are held by DICKSON and can be requested.
ISO/IEC 17025
Accredited calibration. Traceable certificates for every single sensor.
ISO 9001
Quality management at the manufacturer.
CE, FCC and IC
The units are approved for use in the EU and North America.
21 CFR Part 11
Electronic records and signatures are supported in OCEAView.

Book en gennemgangWithout documentation the medicine is declared unfit for use
If conditions go outside the limits and you cannot document for how long, it is not up for discussion. And then the bill is not a new logging system. It is the value of the entire stock, plus the deviation you have to explain afterwards.
Friday evening
The compressor fails, or a door does not close. Nobody is on site.
Monday morning
The damage is done, and nobody can say how long it lasted.
At the audit
The answer is a paper log with an empty field. That is not an answer.
What the solution looks like
Wireless sensors at every piece of equipment, one gateway for the whole building, and software that calls until someone acknowledges.
Measures around the clock
Temperature, humidity, CO2 and differential pressure. The sensor sits inside the equipment, the data logger outside.
Calls on deviation
Call, SMS and email to the person on call. If they do not answer, it calls the next person.
Stores everything
Every reading, every alarm and every acknowledgement with name and timestamp, in a log that cannot be altered.
Delivers the documentation
Choose a period and export the report as PDF or CSV. Ready before anyone asks for it.
