Monitoring at the hospital pharmacy
Vaccine stores, medicine refrigerators, cold rooms and production areas. Measured around the clock, alarmed in time and documented in a way you can present.

What temperature monitoring is required at a hospital pharmacy?
That storage conditions for medicines are under control and can be documented. In practice this means a sensor in every cabinet and every cold room, continuous measurement, alarms that get through outside working hours, and a log that cannot be altered. At an audit you must be able to show a specific reading at a specific time.
Limits and delay times are set according to your own SOPs. We advise on placement and setup, but the decision is yours.
A vaccine store cannot be done over
A pharmacy rarely has just one refrigerator. It has twenty, spread across several rooms and floors, plus a cold room and a number of departments that store medicines themselves. Paper logs are kept inconsistently, and the gaps are only discovered when someone goes looking for them.
When something then goes wrong, the question is not whether the medicine can be used. The question is whether you can prove that it can.
If you cannot, it is discarded. Not because it is necessarily spoiled, but because the documentation is missing.

What we monitor at the pharmacy
Medicine refrigerators
Often twenty or more, spread across several rooms. Flat cable through the door and dry contact on the door.
Emerald Bluetooth sensor + Cobalt XCold rooms
Several measuring points per room. Placement is determined by a mapping study, not by where it is easiest.
Several loggers + mappingFreezers
From -20 to -80 degrees. Pt100 handles the whole range stably over time.
Pt100 Smart-SensorRoom temperature and humidity
Storerooms and production areas where both temperature and humidity matter.
Temperature and humidity sensorDelivery
Cool bags between the pharmacy and the wards. Emerald measures the whole way and is read via a phone.
EmeraldEmergency power and technical systems
UPS, cooling systems and ventilation via dry contact or 4-20 mA, so a technical fault also triggers an alarm.
Universal Smart-SensorFrom the first visit until the system is running
You do not have to run the project. We take responsibility for the whole process, including training your staff.
Walkthrough
We go through the pharmacy with you, count cabinets and rooms and advise on where the sensors should go.
Installation
Loggers at each cabinet, sensors inside the equipment and one gateway for the whole building. Wireless, with no cables in the walls.
Setup
Limits per equipment type, on-call rota and escalation. We teach your staff to acknowledge alarms and pull reports.
Operation
Calibration on time, sensor exchange without downtime, and a phone answered by someone who knows your installation.
OCEAView from DICKSON, set up and looked after by us
The hardware is DICKSON's. The software is DICKSON's. Everything between the equipment and your day-to-day work is ours. And once the system is in place, it is yours. You buy it, you own it, and no leasing agreement decides when you can switch, expand or stop. We take care of maintenance so it keeps running.
OCEAView
The whole setup on one screen. Watch mode gives a combined status overview of the equipment you have access to, with up to 100 units per page, and every graph can be zoomed down to the individual minute. Plan View also places the points on your own floor plan, so the person on call can see which room it concerns.

Audit trail that cannot be altered
Every reading, alarm and acknowledgement with timestamp and user. That is what an auditor asks for.
One-click reports
Choose a period and pull the report as PDF or CSV. Ready before anyone asks.
Cloud or your own servers
On-premises runs at your site with LDAP, and you control updates yourselves, so the qualification holds.
DICKSON
The manufacturer
Builds data loggers, sensors and OCEAView. French and American production, its own accredited calibration laboratories and CE, FCC and IC approved equipment.
Djurhuus IT
Distributor since 2018
We advise on placement, design the setup, install, set up alarms and on-call rotas, train your staff on the system and manage calibration afterwards.
You
Owner of the system
The system is yours. You set limits, response times and requirements according to your own SOPs. We supply the system and the documentation, carry out the validation, on our own or in close cooperation with you, and maintain it afterwards.
Frequently asked questions
Can we have all the departments' refrigerators in the same system?
Yes. The departments' cabinets sit in the same dashboard as the pharmacy's, but can be grouped so each department only sees its own. The alarm can go to the department, to the pharmacy or to both.
What does the Danish Medicines Agency require?
That storage conditions are under control and can be documented. We supply the system, the readings and the reports. Assessing whether your practice meets the requirements is up to you or your QA.
How do we avoid an alarm every time someone fetches medicine?
Each alarm limit can have its own delay. The temperature must be above the limit for the number of minutes you decide before the alarm goes off. A dry contact cable also shows whether the door was open.
Who gets notified at night?
The person at the top of the on-call rota. If they do not answer, the system calls the next person and keeps going until someone acknowledges. The acknowledgement is stored with name and timestamp. Djurhuus also offers a 24/7 on-call service.
Can we use it for deliveries to the wards?
Yes. An Emerald sensor in the cool bag measures the whole way and is read via a phone when the bag arrives.
How often do the sensors need calibrating?
You define the interval yourselves based on your SOPs, typically every 12 months. OCEAView shows which sensors are due for calibration, and the certificate can be retrieved directly from each sensor.
